Teacher squirts kids with water?

My 7th grade writing teacher has just started to squirt kids with water if they get something wrong. Whether they don't understand something, or they just lost their place or misbehaved, she squirts them. Even kids who truly don't understand, instead of helping them she gets frustrated and squirts them. She doesn't do it in a mean way, she laughs and the entire cl laughs but it is still not very funny. Although she may think it is creative, some kids really don't want to get sprayed with water anytime they mess up. Isn't this a bit odd?
