Should I start a long distance relationship with him.?

Okk so my bffl's best guy friend likes me and i like him too. We text eachother ALOT and talk alot and my bffl says that he really really likes me. She says we should go out but i'm not sure if i should do a long distance relationship with him. I live at the bottom of the U.S. and he lives at the top. He's coming to visit in Feburary and told my bffl that one of the reasons why he's coming is because of me. Should I start a long distance relationship with him.? my bffl seems a little upset, especially since he mentioned me being one of the reasons why he wants to visit and not her. If i should start a long distance relationship with him, how do I do it and make it last.?
