Names and the theme of The Crucible?

I'm reading The Crucible by Arthur Miller and got interested in the idea bout names in the play. In the play Arthur Miller let Proctor mention a lot about the his name, making it seem to be a quite important part of the play. Based on what I know about the play, it was written during the time anti-communist time in the US as a response to McCarthyism as Arthur Miller himself was questioned by the court. In my opinion there seems to be no link between those two things about name and McCarthyism then why did Arthur Miller let Proctor mention too much about his name? In an essay that I'm writing I talk about the importance of a person's name and that it is power and I would like to relate it to the main theme of the play. If you can please give me an essay written a scholar that talks about anything that may help cuz I also need to get the sources approved anyway. Thanks
