How can I move my iTunes library from PC to Mac?

I have consolidated it, I have created a new iTunes library on my Mac and have got the .itl file and .xml file onto my Mac (its sitting in my 'My Music' folder). How the HELL do I get it to work? I can't seem to open it and no tutorials make sense. They just ume you know everything and I don't!
