A question about a career as a surgeon?

My life plan is to train to become a cardiothoracic surgeon and has been for some time. However i also have dreams of a family and things like most people do. The problem is there is no one around where i live who i can talk to and find out if this is the right path for me? so i was wondering if there are any of you who are cardiothoracic surgeons, how did you become one, and do you have a family? if you dont would you be able to have one? or are the hours unpredictable and such? also if that is the case, where is a good area in the medical profession where it is possible to have a family? Sorry one more question, i have survere podophobia (fear of feet) the only way to cure this is through hypnotherapy which quite frankly i cannot afford lol, so if it is possible to get there without going via the route of general consultation i would greatly appreciate the tip off.
