Questions about Mstiff Puppies.?

I currently have 2, used to have 3 neo mastiffs. The cost of feeding them is roughly $160. a month. Believe it or not- my mastiffs do notr eat as much as some people think. However they (especially my male) drink apporx. 3-4 gallons of water a day.(Combined) No lie- especially in summer. My mastiffs actually lose their "bulk" as they got older. I have always used LARGE BREED SENIOR *on all my dogs, senior or not- and they are fine. Healthy and happy-good weight.Neo's life span is (normally) 9-10 yrs. But-I do not believe that .If they are healthy and well fed, and exercised 2 times a day, loved to death, I think they live longer. My dogs really really hate the heat. We live in upstate NY-it can get hot and really muggy-they pretty much get walked at the crack of dawn and right after sunset at night in summer. They do not mind winter. In fact mine will lay in the snow for hours. They DO need training right away to let them know who is boss- or you are in for trouble. I had a female and we were kicked out of school until we did 5 private lessons, then we graduated. They are gentle, loving giants. Loyal, mellow and just plain sweet. They do however burp, fart, snore, drool did I mention fart fart fart and drool drool drool?????? I got mine from a rescue and 1 got from a horrible nasty backyard breeder-do not do this. I had to have her put down at 2 because of severe hip dysplasia after 3 surgeries did not help, and one day she went totally paralyzed. Heartbreaking.Still not over that one. I have to say- I love all dogs. But-these dogs will always be my favorite-like anyone else who has any other dog- I will always have 1 somehow!!! You do know 3 dogs is a HUGE commitment. Vet bills, toenails, they are prone to ear infections, skin rashes and constipation, because they have a slow slow digestive system. And I am a firm believer in a ton of exercise. If you want a well behaved, well socialized, polite and mellow dog-they MUST be exercised twice a day. Not a mile walk-but exercised!!!! Good Luck-you will love them. *** Nutro brand dog food
